We've been in a lot of Antiques Shops and this one really tops the list. You'll find The Emporium in the Downtown District next to Williams Restaurant (the best fine dining destination in town). Interesting to note that The Empoium is located in the building that housed the first Sears store in the state of Ohio.

You're likely to be greeted by proprietor Kevin Johnson, a most friendly and knowledgeable host. The shop is 2 floors of nicely displayed antiques and collectibles, and everything in the store is in pristine condition. I know, part of the fun of antiquing is weeding through the "junk" to find the treasure. At the Emporium, it's one fine piece after another.

They say the biggest mistake an antiquer can make is to go out looking for a specific item, and I made this one on my recent daytrip to Portsmouth. I was looking for an end table of a certain heighth and width. I found it at the Emporium and a few other things as well. My friend Steve bought all of their Bob Dylan albums (yes, LP's), all in perfect condition.

Items at The Emporium is are very fairly priced. If you're used to doing your antiquing in the city, I'm sure that you'll be pleasantly surprised with the deal you'll get in Portsmouth.

When you Daytrip to Portsmouth, don't miss The Emporium.

Look for a link to their website on the Featured Daytrip page.

Many thanks for the kind words about our shop, The Emporium at Portsmouth. We work hard to obtain quality items at a fair price... including the largest vinyl collection in the area. Come see us again or visit our newly improved website and see selected items one can purchase on-line via our "Featured Items" section. You can also subscribe to our monthly newletter.
