Here's a tip on a great antiques mall in Madison. There are a couple of antique malls on the Main Street stretch of road which are pretty good and worth a stop, but this place has good quality stuff throughout. It's called the Lumber Mill Antiques Mall and is located at 721 1st Street, which is in the slightly western part of downtown closer to the river and close to the Lanier Mansion and the Visitors Bureau. No website yet, but the phone number is 812-273-3040. Hours are Mon-Sat 10-5 and noon-5 on Sundays.
The Lumber Mill has 3 floors crammed full of nice old pieces. There is some Roseville pottery, lots of German beer steins, and most noticible is a huge collection of furniture. Some really amazing stuff from the deco period and back into the 1800's. Don't miss this place and tell Dave at the Lumber Mill that you're on a Daytrip. |
